The Black Crows Anima Skis are a big mountain freeride ski that is designed and produced to slay the deep stuff. At 115-millimeters underfoot, it has more than enough width to keep you floating above the deepest powder and the softest snow. But unlike other wider powder skis on the market today, it has some burliness and beef to it that make it more versatile than just a playful powder ski. Built with a poplar wood core, carbon and Kevlar strips, and a fiberglass laminate, the Anima is a bit stronger than it lets on, much to the delight of aspiring freeride skiers everywhere. The 182-centimeter length generates a 19-meter turn radius, so it’s on the turnier side of the spectrum, allowing for stronger edge grip for when the going gets sketchy. While they are capable of drifting and smearing, they do prefer to be in a turn, and can operate quite well with higher edge angles. All of this adds up to a super-fun powder and soft snow ski for advanced and expert skiers. The shape of the ski helps with its playfulness with a twin tipped shape, and a reverse swallow tail in the tip make it hook up with turn initiation quite easily. If you’re looking to fill the wide part of your quiver, the Black Crows Anima is a soft-snow specialist that will stay on top of anything.
